1. كَأَنَّما خَدُّهُ وَالشَعرُ مُلبِسُهُ

    شِقٌّ مِنَ البَدرِ مُنشَقٌّ عَنِ الظُلَمِ

    It is as though his cheek, clad in his hair,

    Is a fragment of the full moon emerging from the darkness.

  2. كَأَنَّما كاتِبٌ خَطَّت أَنامِلُهُ

    بِالمِسكِ في خَدِّهِ سَطرَينِ بِالقَلَمِ

    It is as though a scribe, whose fingertips have traced,

    With musk upon his cheek, two lines with a pen.
