I beheld, my friend, the sun
walking on the eve of Friday.
The people surged against the people,
and they deemed it was the Return
to God, and they cried, "The Resur-
rection!" when they saw this wonder.
For the sun was seen by night
while men were in hushed dread.
They surged to see a sun
in the night—oh, what a terror!
So I said, "The sun does not rise
at night from the station of al-Haq'ah;
But rather, it is the youth Ahmad
dispelling the night with his countenance.
Upon his forehead shines Sirius,
and in his cheek is al-Han'ah."
