Oh my heart, what effort from you, with such burdens
O heart, woe to you, is this passion of yours truly earnest?
And those I burdened are harsh as you describe
While the one I dote upon is harsh, just as you describe.
And it would be right for him to love you with dedication
By right, he ought to have loved you with diligence,
That is how the predecessors informed us from the past
For so have our ancestors of the past informed us.
Say to the beautiful one, will you not recount the narrative with what
Say to that beautiful one: Do you not narrate the Tradition regarding that
You differed in, and it has come in the scriptures
Which you have contradicted, though the scriptures have cited it?
Indeed hearts are regiments, regimented
"Verily, hearts are conscripted soldiers,
For God on earth, differing in passions
Belonging to God upon the earth, differing in their desires;
That which agrees between them unites them
Those among them that recognize one another are united,
And that which disputes between them divides them
And those among them that do not know one another are at variance."
