The Messenger claimed that I had struck him
The messenger claimed that I dallied with him,
The Messenger lied at the dawn's first light
The messenger lied, by the Splitter of the Dawns!
If I had struck the Messenger, my soul would not rest
If I had dallied with the messenger, then may
My fingers clench the souls tight
The fingers of the Soul-Taker seize my spirit.
I am busy loving you, oh beautiful one, I have not
My sole work is loving you, O beauty; I have not
Two hearts - one occupied, the other cries out
Two hearts—one occupied, the other sober.
