1. كَأَنَّ صَفاءَ الدَمعِ في ساحِ خَدِّهِ

    حَكى الدُرَّ مَنثوراً عَلى وَرَقٍ نَضرِ

    As though the clarity of tears upon the expanse of his cheek

    Resembled pearls scattered upon a fresh, blooming leaf.

  2. فَيا نورَ عَيني لَو كَفَفتَ مِنَ البُكا

    وَنادَيتَ مَن أَبكاكَ قامَ مِنَ القَبرِ

    O light of my eyes, if you were to refrain from weeping,

    And call out to the one who caused your tears, he would rise from the grave.
