إِذا ما افتَرَقنا فَادرِ أَن لَستَ مِن ذِكري

وَلا تَكُ في شَكٍّ كَأَنَّكَ لا تَدري

If we part ways, then know you hold no place in my remembrance,

And do not remain in doubt, as though you are unaware.

وَخُتَّ عَلى عَمدٍ بِعِلمِكَ وَانسَني

وَلا تَرَ لي الإِحسانَ يَوماً مِنَ الدَهرِ

Commit your treachery deliberately, with full knowledge, and forget me,

And do not acknowledge any kindness from me, ever again.

كَشَفتُ خَبيآتِ الأُمورِ وَأَدرَكَت

يَدي فَلَتاتِ الرَأيِ في مُبتَدا الأَمرِ

I have exposed the hidden depths of matters, and my hand

Has grasped the lapses of judgment at the very start of the affair.

عَلَيكَ سَلامٌ لا لِوُدٍّ رَعَيتَهُ

وَلَكِنَّ مِثلي لا يُقيمُ عَلى صُغرِ

Peace be upon you—not for any affection you preserved,

But because one like me does not abide in humiliation.
