يا قَريبَ الدارِ مِن داري وَقَد
زادَ في البُعدِ عَلى مَن بَعُدا
O you whose home is near to mine, yet who has
Exceeded in distance even those who are far away,
قَد شَهِدتُ العيدَ فَاِستَسمَجتُهُ
ذاكَ أَن لَم تَكُ فيمَن شَهِدا
I witnessed the Eid, but found it bleak and unsightly,
Simply because you were not among those present.
حَولِيَ الناسُ كَأَنّي لا أَرى
مِنهُمُ إِذ غِبتَ عَنّي أَحَدا
People surround me, yet it is as if I see
Not a single one of them, since you are absent from me.
