هذا غُلامٌ حسنٌ وجههُ

ليست له من خلفهِ آخره

This is a lad of comely face,

Yet he holds no share in the Hereafter.

رُبّ فتى دنياه ليست لهُ

من خلفهِ آخرةٌ وافره

Many a youth has no part of this world,

While a bountiful Hereafter awaits him.

وآخرٌ فازَ بكلتيهما

قد جمع الدنيا مع الآخره

And another has triumphed in both realms,

Gathering this world along with the Next.
