من كان يعجبه الأنثى ويعجبها

من الرجال فإنّي شفّني الذكَرُ

Whoever is pleased by the female, and whom she pleases

Amongst men—as for me, the male has consumed me.

فوق الخماسيّ لمّا طرّ شاربُهُ

رخصُ البنانِ جلى من جلدهِ الشعرُ

Just above five spans in height when his mustache first sprouted,

Delicate of fingertips, the hair cleared from his skin.

لم يجفّ من كبَرٍ عمّا يُراد بهِ

من الأمور ولا أزرى به الصغَر

He has not hardened with age regarding what is sought of him

Of matters, nor has youthfulness made him inadequate.
