My soul remains dwelling with my beloved,
While it is only my body that departs.
When the riding mounts bear us ever farther,
And my heart and eyes ache with longing for him,
My remembrance depicts his image within my heart,
Just as he used to wear me down with passion.
For at times it portrays him well-pleased,
And at times in the guise of one enraged.
I am a ransom and a sanctuary for his memory,
A meager offering for the one who dispels my sorrows.
