يا اِبنَ حُدَيجٍ أَطرِق عَلى مَضَضٍ
لا تَبرَ مِن سِلعَةٍ وَلا حَسَكِ
O Ibn Hudayj, bow your head in bitterness,
And do not absolve yourself of the blemish nor the thorn,
فَلَستَ مِن آكِلِ المُرارِ وَلا ال
فارِسِ رَبِّ الرِبابِ وَالمُلُكِ
For you are not of the Eater of Bitter Herbs, nor the
Knight who is master of multitudes and dominion,
فَاِرضَ بِحَظِّ السُكونِ مِن تافِهِ ال
مَجدِ فَلَيسَ السُكونُ كَالحَرَكِ
So be content with the lot of stillness from the trivialities of
Glory, for stillness is not the same as movement.
