ورثنا المجدَ من آباءِ صدقٍ

أسأنا في ديارهمُ الصنيعا

We inherited glory from righteous forefathers,

Yet in their lands, we have acted shamefully.

إذا النسبُ الرفيعُ توارثتهُ

ولاةُ السوءِ أوشكَ أن يضيعا

For when a noble lineage is inherited

By evil rulers, it is on the verge of ruin.
