1. وابِأَبي مَن إِذا ذُكِرتُ لَهُ

    وَطولُ وَجدي بِهِ تَنَقَّصَني

    May my father be a ransom for the one who, when I am mentioned to him,

    And the depth of my passion for him is told, seeks to belittle me.

  2. لَو سَأَلوهُ عَن وَجهِ حُجَّتِهِ

    في سَبِّهِ لي لَقالَ يَعشَقُني

    If they were to ask him the basis of his argument

    For reviling me, he would answer: "He is in love with me."

  3. نَعَم إِلى الحَشرِ وَالتَنادِ نَعَم

    أَعشَقُهُ أَو أُلَفَّ في كَفَني

    Yes, until the Resurrection and the Day of Summoning, yes,

    I shall adore him, or until I am wrapped within my shroud.

  4. لا تَثنِني وَيكَ عَن مَحَبَّتِهِ

    ما دامَ روحي مُصاحِباً بَدَني

    Do not seek to turn me—woe to you!—from his love,

    So long as my soul remains a companion to my body.

  5. أَصيحُ جَهراً لا أَستَسِرُّ بِما

    عَنَّفَني فيهِ مَن يُعَنِّفُني

    I cry out openly; I do not hide the cause for which

    My censurer has rebuked me, whoever he may be.

  6. يا مَعشَرَ الناسِ فَاِسمَعوهُ وَعوا

    إِنَّ جِناناً صَديقَةُ الحَسَنِ

    O assembly of people, listen to this and take heed:

    That Jinan is the beloved of Al-Hasan.
