جَفنُ عَيني قَد كادَ يَس

قُطُ مِن طولِ ما اِختَلَج

My eyelids have nearly withered

My eyelid has all but drop-

From the length of torment they've suffered

-ped from its incessant twitching,

وَفُؤادي مِن حَرِّ حُب

بِكِ وَالهَجرِ قَد نَضَج

And my heart from the heat of love for you

And my heart, from the fire of lov-

And separation has ripened

-ing you and loss, is fully scorching.

خَبِّريني فَدَتكِ نَف

سي وَأَهلي مَتى الفَرَج

Tell me, my soul and family ransom you

Tell me—may I sacrifice my sou-

When will there be relief?

-l and my kin—when is relief approaching?

كانَ ميعادُنا خُرو

جَ زِيادٍ وَقَد خَرَج

Our rendezvous was to go out after Increase

Our promise was set on the leav-

And Increase has gone out

-ing of Ziyad, and he is leaving.

أَنتِ مِن قَتلِ عائِذٍ

بِكِ في أَضيَقِ الحَرَج

You’re the refuge from killing the desperate

You, for slaying one seeking ref-

In direst strait

-uge in you, stand in direst trespassing.
