O Lord of a bull in a distant place
Many a wild bull in a distant, desolate place,
With determined, sturdy strides
With tufted fetlocks, skin smooth and glistening,
Who spends the night watching the stars from the thicket
Spent the night watching the stars from a narrow gap,
I bid him good morning with a growling belch
I came upon him at dawn with lean, hollow-bellied hounds,
His hounds chasing after him
Relentless pursuers with withers high and raised,
Now, after the town, the butcher
Who, after the gallop, break into a frantic pace,
For them wherever he may be the special one
Closing in on him there where the flank is vulnerable,
Baring teeth with a nasty grin
He bares a fang that is sharp and pinching,
A black hare like ebony
And a black nose-tip, dark like a withered tuft,
With it he is granted and by it denied
With which he engages and with which he resists,
Hunting nearby and afar
Hunting down the quarry, both near and far,
Every fat, oily weakling
Every fat, sleek, and prancing prize.
