أَعلَمُ أَن لا خَيرَ لي عِندَكُم

إِنَّ رَسولي جاءَ غَضبانا

I know that there is no good for me with you all

I know full well there is no good for me with you,

My messenger certainly came angrily

For my messenger has returned in a state of anger.

لَو كانَ خَيرٌ لِابتِداني بِهِ

وَجاءَني يَضحَكُ جَذلانا

Had there been any good to start me with it

Had there been good, he would have greeted me with it,

He would have come to me smiling gently

And come to me laughing, brimming with delight.
