O daughter of the sheikh, we woke up
O daughter of the Sheikh, pour us our morning drink,
What is it that you are waiting for us?
What is it that you are waiting for?
The water has flowed in your willow branch, so make the wine flow in us
Water has flowed through your wood,
We only drink it
So make the wine flow among us.
So know that for certain
For indeed, we only drink from it—
Whatever is contrary
So know that with certainty—
To the drink of the righteous
Everything that stands in opposition
And turn it away from the miser
To the beverage of the pious.
Who clings to abstinence as his religion
And turn the cup away from the miser
Time has been prolonged for him
Who has adopted withholding as his creed.
So he will see the moment one day
Time has dragged on for him,
Stop at the abode of the loving ones
So he sees a mere hour as an age.
And cry if you are sad
Halt at the campsite of those who departed,
And ask the house when
And weep, if you are truly sorrowful.
It was separated from the friendly house
And ask the abode: when did the house
We asked it but it refuses
Part ways with its inhabitants?
To answer the questioners
We have asked it, but it refuses
To give an answer to the questioners.
