O Lord of a house in a spacious wilderness
Many a tent stands in a barren, sweeping void,
Far between fish and chickpea
With a great span between its high roof and its pegs,
For young men who rose early with dogs
Belonging to youths who set out early with hounds,
They have trained them in the best discipline
Which they have trained with the finest of discipline,
From every hot the ribs reach
Each one arched-backed, with swaggering shoulders,
It grows in fetters the youth of the trained one
Leaping on the leash like a pampered, noble steed,
It makes its ears reach the edge of the claw
Stretching his ears down to the tips of his claws,
So it does not miss a rabbit
Never failing to bring back the sliced flesh of a hare,
When they have a he-goat or zebra
Or in their possession, a shaggy mountain buck,
And a skin stripped from a fox
And a fur pelt stripped from a fox,
Turned over or not turned over
Whether the hide is turned inside-out or left plain,
And a trained she-camel and mother of cubs
And a wild ass of the desert, and a nursing mother.
