If she delights my eyes through you, then my prophet's eye has prospered, and I have won good news.
If my eye is tormented by her, then fortunate indeed
So whenever her messenger comes to me, I send back my yearning in his glance.
Is the eye of my messenger, and I have won the news.
In his glance appear her beauties; they have left on him the best impression.
Thus, whenever the messenger comes to me from her,
Take my eyelashes as a loan, O messenger, then look with them and judge my sight.
I cast my gaze repeatedly into his eyes out of longing.
For her beauties appear reflected in his glance,
Having left upon him the most exquisite impression.
Take my eyes, O messenger, as a borrowed trust,
Look through them, and hold dominion over my sight.
