مثنى وثلاثا

Two by two and three by three,

حبّذا الأكؤس في الد

ر إذا كنّ خباثا

The cups in the houses are praiseworthy

How lovely are the cups in the

If they are impure

Round, when they are wicked,

حبذا يا عمرو تبكي

المردَ لا تبكي الإناثا

Praiseworthy, O Amr, you cry over

How lovely, O 'Amr, to weep for

The man, don't cry over the women

The lads, not to weep for girls.
