My tears mixed in my cup
My tears have mingled with my cup,
And I did not reveal my obsession
Though I revealed not my inner torment,
But my eyes spoke
But my eyes spoke out the truth,
And uncovered my cruel love
Betraying my passion for the cruel one.
And they talked about me with suspicion
They spoke of me based on mere suspicion,
So I bowed my head to them
So I lowered my head before their gaze.
And who is safe, oh love
And who is ever safe, O my beloved,
From people's tongues
From the sharp tongues of the people?
Passion has possessed me
Suppose I did confess this love,
Is there any harm in love?
Is there, in love, any cause for shame?
