She extended her phantom to reconcile with him
She slipped her phantom in to reconcile with him,
In sleep, while awake we refuse reconciliation
In sleep, for he refused the truce while yet awake.
Yet with my phantom her phantom found no joy
But her specter found no joy beside my specter,
Neither did it grieve to empathize or sympathize
It neither pitied her complaints nor did it soften.
I thought my imagination would not represent
I reckoned that my sleeping soul would not feel anger
What makes me, because of it, so angry
Towards the very cause for which I am enraged.
Oh Gardens, do not ask me for quick reconciliation
O Jinan, do not ask me for a hasty peace,
For what had happened between us was not easy
For what you did was no light, trivial matter.
