The verdant one has donned youth after its old age
The verdant realm has turned young again after old age,
And it did so through you, O trusted one
And it is only through Al-Amin that it finds its youth.
You have restored its bygone youth
You have restored to it the prime that had passed away,
And renewed a sight of it that was about to perish
And renewed a visage that was on the verge of ruin.
If you resemble Harun in some ways
If indeed you bear a resemblance to Harun,
You are closer in resemblance to al-Mansur
You are yet closer in likeness to Al-Mansur.
For if your ancestors are counted
For if your forefathers were to be reckoned,
You become a kinsman of al-Mansur from that lineage
You would ascend to Al-Mansur by lineage.
We see you as his son, from both his sides
We see you as his heir from both of his sides:
So from one side, a grandfather, and from the other, a father
From one side a grandsire, from the other a sire.
A leader who commands awe and love
An Imam crowned with majesty and graced with love;
How excellent is that imposing, beloved one
How splendid is that revered and beloved one!
