بِسُجودِ القِسّيسِ يَومَ السُجودِ

وَالصَليبِ المُعَظَّمِ المَعمودِ

وَالأَناجيلِ وَالمَزاميرِ وَالمِس

راجِ في كَفِّ عابِدٍ مَعبودِ

And the Gospels, Psalms, and censers in the hand of a worshipped worshipper

By the Gospels, the Psalms, and the lan-

And truly with the bell of the consecration of the flesh

tern in a worshipped adorer's hand,

وَبِناقوسِ بيعَةِ اللَحمِ حَقّاً

وَبِأَقفالِها وَبِالإِقليدِ

And with its locks and with the stole

By the bell of the Church of Bethlehem, true,

And with the marble in its homes

By its bolted locks and its iron key,

وَبِما في بُيوتِها مِن رُخامٍ

وَبِما تَحتِ سَقفِها مِن عَمودِ

And with the pillars under its ceilings

By the marble paving its holy halls,

And with the slaughter you mentioned, that God

By the pillars rising beneath its roof,

وَبِذَبحِ الَّذي ذَكَرتُم بِأَنَّ ال

لاهَ لَم يُثبِتِ اِسمَهُ في العَبيدِ

Did not confirm His name among the servants

By the sacrifice of Him whom you said the

With the beautiful perfection, you have only become

Lord did not number among the slaves,

بِالجَمالِ البَديعِ إِلّا رَثَيتُم

لِشَجٍ مُثخَنٍ بِخَوفِ الوَعيدِ

A wounded cheek, fearful of threat

By such wondrous beauty, will you not pity

A victim torn by the threat of doom?
