The wanderer returned to me in the evening
At al-Sadir, my fugitive revelry returned to me,
With joy and remorseful companions and music
Bringing joy with drinking companions and the sound of music,
And the gazelles' eyes yearn towards us
While the eyes of gazelles gazed tenderly upon us,
Bestowing every kindness and gentleness
Bestowing every manner of kindness and grace.
So we repelled the rejections in the ugliest way
We banished aversion with the harshest of exiles,
And pulled closer the connection in the finest manner
And inclined toward union with the fairest embrace.
And the pampered camel almost collapsed
One soft in dalliance, so delicate that a mere glance might wound his skin,
From tenderness his hide sank from the fall of an eyelash
Upon whose neck the cross has settled, setting him apart from every other love.
The cross fell in place of the necklace so it singled him out
Then we spun the millstone of joy three times around,
Above every intimate friend
And joined our waists, pressing palm against palm.
So we turned the millstone of joy three times
And joined the waists hand to hand
