دَع جِناناً وَحُبَّها

عَنكَ إِن كُنتَ عاقِلا

Leave her love alone, if you are wise,

Cast aside Jinan and her love,

Do not remind yourself of death while it is oblivious.

If you are truly among the wise.

لا تُذَكِّر بِنَفسِكَ ال

مَوتَ ما دامَ غافِلا

If you do not die of love for her this year,

Do not remind Death of your existence,

You will not escape death when it comes.

So long as it remains oblivious.

أَنتَ إِن لَم تَمُت بِها ال

عامَ لَم تَنجُ قابِلا

Have mercy on yourself, for she

For if you do not die within this year,

Who left you was unworthy.

You shall not escape the year to come.

رُحِمَت نَفسُكَ الَّتي

ذَهَبَت عَنكَ باطِلا

May mercy fall upon your soul,

Which has been lost to you in vain.
