My heart harbors many wounds
My heart has become marked with deep scars,
Inflicted by a cruel beloved
Inflicted by the fawn, pampered and young,
Who persists in tormenting me
Who persists in the folly of youthful passion,
As gray hairs sprout upon my head
Though the gray of age has risen upon my head.
I feel my end is nearing fast
I deem myself to be tasting my own death,
Its time is very close at hand
And feel that its visitation is close at hand.
When love has caused a heart to grieve
For when a heart is stricken by love's affliction,
No doctor can make it mend
Seldom can a physician provide a cure.
