Oh give me wine perfumed sweetly at dawn,
Come, pour me a musk-scented vintage, sharp and tart,
Poured on narcissus whose breath grants it more intoxication,
Beside narcissus blooms that lend the wine their breath.
Eyes that when you look at them are as though
Eyes—which, when you gaze upon them, seem as if
Tears of dew from above their lids were pearls,
The tears of dew upon their lids are pearls.
Their whites are white and their lashes green,
Their whites are pure, and verdant green their lids,
Their pupils yellow, their breath fragrant and clean,
Their pupils gold, and all their breath is scent.
In a garden it's as if its plants
Within a garden meadow where the flora seems
Were clothed in splendor when the rain first wet,
Veiled in brocade when visited by morning rain.
The sun and moon alternate around it,
He circles the sun among us, with the moon close by—
So one who's seen a sun spun round by a moon's yet.
O who has ever seen a sun borne round by a moon?
