Revive me, O companion of my soul
Revive my spirit, O friend of mine,
With morning draughts and dawnings,
With a twilight draught and a morning cup,
And quench me until you see me
And pour for me until you see me
Holding back like the curbed torrents.
Reeling like a headstrong steed,
A pale coffee in early morning
A golden vintage, virgin and pure,
Planted in the days of Noah,
Planted in the days of Noah,
It dispels cares, and to it inclines
It banishes care, and brings repose
The heart of the stingy.
To the heart of the miserly soul,
I shall not lack it at all,
That prize—may God never deny me—
Unless my gracious Lord forgets me.
Is my solace, the twin of my life,
My heart takes wing toward it
My heart inclines toward it utterly,
In love, whatever my regression.
In passion, with a wild incline,
My soul has compassion on it
My soul has turned to embrace it close,
With a constant, unswerving love.
With a love that shall never withdraw.
