The dawn has torn the veils of darkness
Dawn has torn down the heavy drapes of night,
And its garments of gloom have vanished.
And cast aside its robes of charcoal hue.
So stop your vain regret, you who went astray,
So serve your comrades a morning draught of dark vintage,
When affliction came your way.
Upon which an age has passed within the urn.
She was wed to the noblest of suitors
She is brought forth like a bride to her noblest suitor,
With a wreath of roses and jasmine.
Her sash a weave of roses and sweet briar.
The houri hastens to her with a cheek
A doe-eyed maiden bears the cup; within her glance
Of laughter, though sure of what’s to come.
Is mirth, and in her smile is artful grace.
Men are but an impetuous fool
For mankind is but the bold and reckless libertine,
Or one whose religion curbs him.
Or the man whom faith has crowned with dignity.
