I have been wounded by you in ways no water can heal,
I choke on a grief from you that water cannot clear,
And your abandonment of me became a festering disease.
And your estrangement is so sound, it bears no flaw.
It would have sufficed, had you decided
It would have sufficed you, had it been your resolve
To shun me with a gesture - that would have been enough.
To cast me off, to verify it by a gesture, not a word.
Yet I have not forgotten who commanded this
I have not forgotten the standing of those who ordered this
Of the talebearers, though my mouth holds water.
From among the slanderers, yet my mouth is filled with water.
I kept on hearing until I became like one
I ceased not to hear until I became as one for whom
Whose time had come while people still lived.
The Resurrection has arisen while all mankind lives on.
Once I had a name, but now I am known
I was once a man of one name, but now there are known for me,
By the torments I endure in loving you.
From all I suffer in your love, a multitude of names.
