أَصبَحتُ أَجوَعَ خَلقِ اللَهِ كُلِّهِمُ

وَأَفزَعَ الناسِ مِن خُبزٍ إِذا وُضِعا

I have become the hungriest of all God's creations

I have become the most famished of all God's creation,

And people are terrified of bread when it is placed

And the most panic-stricken when a loaf of bread is served.

خُبزُ المُفَضَّلِ مَكتوبٌ عَلَيهِ أَلا

لا بارَكَ اللَهُ في ضَيفٍ إِذا شَبِعا

The preferred bread has written on it "God forbid

For on the bread of Al-Mufaddal, a message is inscribed:

That a guest be satisfied after he eats"

'May God grant no blessing to the guest who eats his fill.'

إِنّي أُحَذِّرُكُم مِن خُبزِ صاحِبِنا

فَقَد تَرَونَ بِحَلقي اليَومَ ما صَنَعا

I warn you of the bread of our friend

I give you all a warning against our comrade's bread,

For today you will see in my throat what it has done

For you can see within my throat the ruin it has wrought.
