No protector had he like his father
Asim belongs not to his father,
Nor anyone resembling him
Nor does he bear him any resemblance.
He became claimed by many people
He has become shared by a multitude,
And each of them stakes a claim
And every one of them lays claim to him.
One calls him 'my son'
This one says, "He is my son,"
Another disputes over him
And that one quarrels over him.
While his mother laughs at them
Yet the mother laughs at them,
For she knows well his father
For she knows his true father.
