شَهِدَت جَلوَةَ العَروسِ جِنانٌ

فَاِستَمالَت بِحُسنِها النَظّارَه

The bride's attendants witnessed her beauty,

Jinan attended the unveiling of the bride,

So they were captivated by her charm.

And with her beauty, she captivated all who gazed.

حَسِبوها العَروسَ حينَ رَأَوها

فَإِلَيها دونَ العَروسِ الإِشارَه

When they saw her, they mistook her for the bride,

They mistook her for the bride when she appeared,

So they gestured towards her, not the bride.

So toward her, not the bride, was every finger raised.

قالَ أَهلُ العَروسِ حينَ رَأَوها

ما دَهانا بِها سِوى عَمّارَه

When the bride’s family saw her, they said,

The family of the bride, upon seeing her, exclaimed:

“We have gained nothing but trouble from her.”

"None but Ammarah has visited this affliction upon us!"
