أنا مِن عيني وقلبي

ومن أيري في اجتهاد

I am from my eyes and heart

I am, because of my eye and my heart

And from the perseverance of my thoughts

And my member, in constant toil;

ليتَ لي عيناً بعيني

وفؤاداً بفؤادي

If only I had an eye for my eye

Would that I had an eye for my eye,

And a heart for my heart

And a heart in place of my heart,

وبأيري أيرُ شيخٍ

ذاكرٌ أيامَ عادِ

And the thoughts of an aged sheikh

And for my member, the member of an elder

Recalling the days of old

Who remembers the days of 'Ad.
