Is there for homelands you once greeted

A deafness from stillness, or mute from neglect?

Of garden or companion there in that place

Naught left alive save shadows encased,

With wine he addresses, as she glows for her lover

Like a bride on her first night dressed,

For God ne’er lacks among His peoples

A heir of the noble studs’ race,

If one grows old in his station

Another arises young in his place
