هَل تَرى النِعمَةَ دامَت

لِصَغيرٍ أَو كَبيرِ

Do you see favors last

For small or great?

أَو تَرى أَمرَينِ جاءا

أَوَّلاً مِثلَ أَخيرِ

Or do you see two things come

The first like the last?

إِنَّما تَجري التَصاري

فُ بِتَقليبِ الدُهورِ

Only vicissitudes flow

In the turning of times

فَفَقيرٌ مِن غَنِيٍّ

وَغَنِيٍّ مِن فَقيرِ

So a poor man from a rich man

And a rich man from a poor
