O Eid, you have not returned with a beloved

To a heart feeling anguished and troubled

O Eid, you have returned to one who sees

Deprived of all beauty found in you

O loneliness of a house whose Lord

    Has dawned wearing grieving robes

Eid has dawned upon its people

With a face lacking beauty or grace

What business have I with time and its events

It has truly afflicted me with wonders
