1. أَلا لَيتَ قَومي وَالأَماني كَثيرَةٌ

    شُهودِيَ وَالأَرواحُ غَيرُ لَوابِثِ

    Oh if only my people knew, though wishes are plentiful,

    My witnesses and souls change and do not endure,

  2. غَداةَ تُناديني الفَوارِسُ وَالقَنا

    تَرُدُّ إِلى حَدِّ الظُبى كُلَّ ناكِثِ

    Tomorrow the horsemen and warriors will call me

    And return me to the peak of glory and reward all oath-breakers,

  3. أَحارِثُ إِن لَم تُصدِرِ الرَمحَ قانِياً

    وَلَم تَدفَعِ الجُلى فَلَستَ بِحارِثِ

    If you do not thrust your spear with courage

    And repel injustice, then you are no warrior
