The rose glows on your cheeks
And fragrance wafts from your lips
The lute prolongs its melody
And the waves sigh on the sands
My heart and your heart are birds
Accustomed to the flutter of wings
My tears and your mouth are like dew
And jasmine in the morning
And I heard the whistling of bulbuls
In your orchard, returning to lament
As if it were the fluttering of hearts
Enamored with you beneath the veil
As if it were the trilling of voices
Yours amid sailors' shouts
As if it were the moaning of my poetry
When I confide my passion for you
As if it were the cooing of my soul
At dawn and in the still of night
O Hind, your eye in the pupils
Is a star gleaming from the dark
Its beams penetrated my breast
And made it bloom like the field flowers
When you are happy you take
The gloom away from my heart
Do not close your eyes
Lest you see the scars
And breathe to perfume
That breeze on the meadows
You comfort and solace me
In times of sorrow and grief
O, my heart's garden filled
With birdsong and mirth
Let it whistle and trill
For life ends with a scream
If you've veiled your beauty
Behind an unrelenting veil
You're sure to forget one day
And the winds will favor me
