أطيبُ العمرِ تولَّى

لا تقُل بعدُ لعلا

The prime of life has come and gone

Do not say, "Perhaps there's still."

وإذا مرَّ شبابٌ

لا ترُم حبّاً وَوَصلا

And when youth passes by,

Do not long for love and union.

بعد صيفٍ وربيعٍ

لن ترى نضراً وظلا

After a spring and summer,

You'll see no verdure or shade.

ليسَ للوقتِ وقوفٌ

إن تَقُل ياوقتُ مهلا

Time does not stand still.

If you say, "Wait, time," it won't wait.
