You stirred the most eloquent pleasures in my remembrance
When you unveiled the veils of secrets
O rose that blossomed, fresh and blooming
Yearning for dew, breeze, and light
This figure is like a twig, bending and scattered
And beauty has left its traces on your cheeks
But your eyes did not lose their sweetness
And the heart beneath the ashes was still aflame
Its flames shone in them so my liver sank
No wonder if I suspect burning and inflammation
You let your beauty wither, heedlessly
So I make it bloom again by caressing
My warmth brought back its former warmth
Until I saw you blooming in September
Love is life-giving to the heart, making it lush
For the heart is like a twig, flourishing and blooming
Of all flowers, I love the loveliest
For the sake of a face that shows me ever-changing beauty
I loved its redness after its yellowness
When we meet, you shy from kith and kin
Or the chaperone walking at a leisurely pace
Lest he startle the birds with his grumbling
The unmatched essence of the most precious jewel
You surpassed all women, this exceeds gems
Blessed is God for the face I was gifted
It pleased me and my heart was fascinated
The cheek is blossoming and the mouth fragrant
Was your grandfather a perfumer and florist?
When you breathed, you scented the morning breeze
And you were not perfumed save by your mouth
Your generosity with its pearls and honey
To the connoisseur who chose you
You ignited an unarmored heart with glory
And I never thought the glance was so impregnable
You were granted victory and this love is battle
Joy to you, for you vanquished the tyrant
