When the radiant full moon rises in the horizon
I am drawn to poetry and melancholy stirs
Though I had abandoned the gentle art out of boredom
Knowing trends pass and fashions never endure
Yet an old longing shakes me to my core
And I cast rhymes into seas that surge
For poetry in my heart is but a torrent rushing
Or fire blazing as passions are stirred
Say to the one who meets beauty calmly
May God grant you healing, untouched heights
On the moonlit night, long was your slumber
And silence descended where chatter once stirred
I remained awake as passions soothed me
And the branches' scent gently stirred
I see the moon rising over the meadow for me
How often has it risen through haze and snows
As she emerged, virtuous, from her castle
Onto a garden where spring forever weaves
I left my heart soaring, free of my youth
With no escape from the cage of my ribs
I loved she whom I loved, and for her
The meadows stretched wide under the sun
About to fall to earth, crying out
To highest heaven, love I most need
