ليس في التقويم ما

يرغبُ فيه ذو قريحه

The calendar has nothing

that pleases the poetic soul

غير رمزٍ بحسا

ب وتواريخ صحيحه

except symbols sensitively felt

and dates that ring true.

وسوى ذلك تزويـ

ـق مُحالاتٍ صريحه

All else is clearly

the fabrication of mystics

ترهات طوّروها الـ

ـغيب بأحكام قبيحه

made up through corrupt dogmas

or sayings in fine phrases

أو أحاديث على

بعباراتٍ فصيحه

that, if sincere, permit

the blood of Muslims to flow.
