1. My lord, bestow a glance upon your servant,

    and shower him from the clouds of your bounty.

  2. For he has confessed his helplessness,

    and that he falls short of even a part of your praise.

  3. The stars upon the horizon have taken their stand

    in the ranks of loftiness, beneath what your striving can attain.

  4. And Time itself has come to take its cue

    from whether you loose or bind.

  5. O ruler of the enduring kingdom,

    I see the nights as but a part of your host.

  6. And I have now completed its fast—

    this month—accepted with praise of you.

  7. My month has grown mighty in worth

    and now enjoys good fortune like your own.

  8. Why should it not be held in honor

    throughout time, when it is your grandfather’s namesake?
