1. Ahmad is the succor of all creation on Resurrection Day;

    for his community, the Gardens of Eden are made easy to enter.

  2. The depths of darkness shrouding the people of idolatry vanished in his light,

    and dawn’s radiance has never ceased to crush the night.

  3. Through him we defeated our enemies in every field,

    and feared no devil who came forth sowing discord.

  4. We were enriched by what he disclosed of his Lord’s revelation,

    and he conveys nothing but the decree of God.

  5. The rain clouds of his hands went on making rain itself needless,

    so drought can neither spread nor spring up.

  6. I will forgive Time all its sins if ever I visit his tomb;

    blessed, then, is the face rubbed in his dust.

  7. My burning longing, since I have not come to Muhammad’s tomb,

    grows, while my heart is stung by sorrow.

  8. The calamities of my age kept me from meeting him;

    they are fearsome—alas for my grief! When shall I be free?

  9. For the waywardness of my ignorance I have indeed wept blood;

    then I went on, while my cheek was stained by my tears.

  10. I have become burdened by my sins, though I was once articulate,

    eloquent—as though I lisp whenever I speak.
