وما كان ذاك الفرع إلا بأصله

What a wonder, a branch fulfilling its root

That branch was nothing without the root

فعضد فرقى لما عضدت جمعه

كبنيان مرصوص تبدى بكشهل

Supported, it rose when supported together

Like a built edifice whose beauty is revealed

فبدء لنا عودا وعود لنا بدءا

وما هو فرع لم يكن غير أصله

For us it was once renewal, and renewal for us was once beginning
