1. A garden embroidered with the brocade of blossoms,

    of pearls like white velvet.

  2. In it the nightingales sang to one another of fragrance,

    mimicking gazelles in their swaying pursuit.

  3. An enamored one's eyelids kept vigil, resembling the stars

    in their languid glances.

  4. With a gazelle's words, he kept me awake

    and I was healed by the cup of healing for ʿIyāḍ.

  5. The gardens of the groves grew sweet with his fragrance

    at late afternoon, like his flowing hem.

  6. The folds of the flowers opened within their buds

    at dawn; the rose of his garden became gardens.

  7. Branches of fragrant wood gave off scent from his sleeves

    at morning, like a necklace of al-aymāṣ.

  8. Within their folds lies a secret permitted to the discerning,

    like eyelids with their lowered glances.

  9. They stole hearts

    and desires on the crowded day.

  10. The sharp points arrived and opened

    in joy at the mention of the Chosen One, in shared contentment.

  11. So I said: pages of collected works, in their cloaks,

    surpassed gardens of virtues in contentment.

  12. A captivating, slender woman,

    from every wine of afflictions.

  13. The maidens of Paradise turned toward their palaces

    and breathed in their fragrance like ḥiyāṣ.

  14. A moon honored all healing with its sun;

    Saturn likewise, and his Mars, for the contented.

  15. Mercury conversed with Venus,

    a noble orbit; disclose it, you who pass.

  16. The sun escaped its lamp so that it might seek shade

    beneath its shadow, across the broad expanses.

  17. At the mention of Muhammad,

    the light of battle rose like a broad-headed arrow.
