رضِيتُ بعَيشٍ كَفافٍ حَلالٍ
وبِعْتُ المُدامَ بماءٍ زُلالِ
I am content with a lawful life of simple sufficiency;
I traded wine for pure, limpid water.
فَمنْ كانَ يحلُو لهُ ما يُصيِبُ
حَراماً فإنَّ حلالي حَلا لي
Whoever may relish whatever he gains
unlawfully—my lawful fare tastes sweet to me.
