إنّي على ما بي من قُوَّةٍ
عِندَ الخُطوبِ الصَّعبةِ الوافِيَهْ
For all the strength I possess
in the face of harsh calamities in all their force,
أجبنُ بل أرعَدُ من خيفَةٍ
أيّامَ ألقى فِئَة القَافِيَهْ
I turn coward—nay, I tremble with fear—
whenever I meet the company of rhyme.
